classic sundae bar

One thing about me… I LOVE ice cream. It’s honestly a personality trait at this point, which I’m not mad about. The below outlines a guide to making a classic sundae bar. This is a pretty low lift (bonus points if you make homemade fudge & whipped cream) and is an instance crowd pleaser. Feel free to interchange the topping to whatever you’re favorites are. Bon appetit!

Prep time: 20 minutes | Serves: 6-8

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart of your favorite vanilla (or whatever flavor !) ice cream

  • whipped cream

  • hot fudge

  • rainbow sprinkles

  • oreos

  • mini m&ms

  • 2 bananas

  • 1 pint strawberries

Instructions:

  1. Make hot fudge* (linked here), then set aside to cool slightly.

  2. Assemble bowls (e.g., cereal bowls) for your toppings in a line.

  3. Slice your strawberries and bananas into bite site pieces, then put into separate bowls.

  4. Put ~10 oreos in a large plastic bag (e.g., Ziploc).

  5. Crush the oreos using hands or a mallet, then put the crumbled oreos in a bowl.

  6. Pour rainbow sprinkles and mini m&ms into individual bowls (Hint: You can put whatever toppings on your sundae bar - so get creative. Think gummy bears, reeses pieces, snowcaps, etc.!)

  7. Just before you’re ready to serve, make the whipped cream* to it is at peak fluffiness (linked here).

  8. Once ready to serve, assemble all your toppings in a line as well as a quart or two of the ice cream of our choice.

  9. Allow your guests to build their own bowls and enjoy!

*Note: If you don’t have time - or, if you simply don’t want to - you can skip the homemade fudge and whipped cream. Although, I encourage you to try it because nothing beats homemade. :)
