festive gimlet

This gimlet is perfect for the fourth of july - or anytime you’re feeling festive. You can easily swap out the garnish to be fit for whatever you’re celebrating. Cheers!

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces of your favorite gin

  • 1-2 limes

  • unsweetened cranberry juice

  • sparkling water

  • simple syrup*

  • ice

  • strawberries

  • blueberries

Tools:

  • shaker

  • coupe or martini glass

  • knife

  • cocktail skewer or toothpick

Instructions:

  1. Measure the following into a shaker:

    • 4 ounces of dry gin

    • 1.5 ounces of freshly squeezed lime juice

    • 1.5 ounces unsweetened cranberry juice (Note: If you cannot find unsweetened juice, skip the simple syrup)

    • 1.5 ounces of simple syrup (Note: I do not like my gimlets to be too sweet - if you do, up this to 2 ounces)

  2. Add ice to the shaker and shake for about 1-2 minutes.

  3. Pour the gimlets into 2 coupes (or martini glasses or whatever you have on hand!). Bonus points if you chilled your glass.

  4. Top with sparkling water.

  5. Then, slice your strawberries crosswise into round pieces. With a knife, carefully cut the round into a star by making 5 points. If this your strawberries are too small, skip this step and stick with a slice of strawberry.

  6. Take a cocktail skewer (or toothpick) and add a blueberry, your strawberry star, and another blueberry.

  7. Garnish your gimlet with your festive skewer.

  8. Serve immediately. Cheers!

*To make simple syrup, heat 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar on the stove over low heat. Continue to stir until the sugar has fully dissolved. Allow to chill.
