festive gimlet
This gimlet is perfect for the fourth of july - or anytime you’re feeling festive. You can easily swap out the garnish to be fit for whatever you’re celebrating. Cheers!
Ingredients:
4 ounces of your favorite gin
1-2 limes
unsweetened cranberry juice
sparkling water
simple syrup*
ice
strawberries
blueberries
Tools:
shaker
coupe or martini glass
knife
cocktail skewer or toothpick
Instructions:
Measure the following into a shaker:
4 ounces of dry gin
1.5 ounces of freshly squeezed lime juice
1.5 ounces unsweetened cranberry juice (Note: If you cannot find unsweetened juice, skip the simple syrup)
1.5 ounces of simple syrup (Note: I do not like my gimlets to be too sweet - if you do, up this to 2 ounces)
Add ice to the shaker and shake for about 1-2 minutes.
Pour the gimlets into 2 coupes (or martini glasses or whatever you have on hand!). Bonus points if you chilled your glass.
Top with sparkling water.
Then, slice your strawberries crosswise into round pieces. With a knife, carefully cut the round into a star by making 5 points. If this your strawberries are too small, skip this step and stick with a slice of strawberry.
Take a cocktail skewer (or toothpick) and add a blueberry, your strawberry star, and another blueberry.
Garnish your gimlet with your festive skewer.
Serve immediately. Cheers!
*To make simple syrup, heat 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar on the stove over low heat. Continue to stir until the sugar has fully dissolved. Allow to chill.
